Mariam is a 10-year-old girl who attends World Vision’s Day Care Centre together with her sister. She has been part of the centre for several years, and her family has received ongoing support from the organisation. This Christmas, Mariam shares her story, talks about why she loves Christmas, and sends her warm greetings and heartfelt thanks to everyone who cares for children like her.
Here is what little Mariam would like to share with us.
“Happy New Year to everyone! Hi, my name is Mariam. I love going to school, doing my homework, and reading. I am also good at writing. But most of all, I love eating!
I love Christmas because it is a time when I spend lots of time with my friends, my family, and my sister. I am especially happy when it snows, because we always have a wonderful time together. During the Christmas holidays, we can eat lots of sweets, which makes us very happy.
My mum feels calm and joyful because we are happy. We all feel good, we are healthy, and we have enough food. My sister and I love decorating our balcony with lights — we enjoy seeing our house shine.
The organisation helped my mum renovate our home and keep it clean and tidy so we can live comfortably. I also really enjoy going to the World Vision Centre. There are many children, and we play together, do outdoor activities, study, and complete different mental exercises that help us learn and grow. Thanks to this centre, I am now studying at the school I always dreamed of attending.
I would like to thank everyone who supported me, cares for children, and helps those in need.
For Christmas, my wish is to have a fluffy toy. And I wish that all children’s dreams come true. ‘’
