Meet Gega, a young boy from Georgia’s Kakheti Region. Active, curious, and driven, Gega attended World Vision’s SKYE Club (Skills and Knowledge for Youth Empowerment), where he became a club leader. The project was supported by the European Union. Through the Youth Club, Gega discovered his voice and his abilities. Alongside his peers, he learned how to turn ideas into action—developing project writing, presentation, and public speaking skills while working on innovative initiatives for his community. These experiences helped him realise that young people can create real change. Today, Gega is a successful student studying engineering at a higher education institution. He firmly believes that the SKYE Club played a critical role in shaping his confidence, strengthening his skills, and guiding him towards the career path he follows today.
Here is Gega’s message to young people and to all our supporters:
“Hello everyone, my name is Gega and I am 18 years old. First of all, I would like to congratulate you on Christmas and the New Year. I wish you all success, good health, and happiness in the year ahead.
I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to our donors, supporters, and World Vision for creating opportunities that we would not have without your support. In my case, I had the honour of being the leader of the SKYE Club in the Kakheti Region, a youth club that gave me more than I can even put into words.
Through being part of the club and by working on various projects, I realised that even as an ordinary citizen, I can have a positive impact on my community and contribute to solving some of the challenges our region faces. I also discovered how many creative, intelligent, and kind young people we have in our society.
It is also worth mentioning that I gained many new skills and further developed existing ones. This experience helped me build self-confidence and set bigger goals for myself. Today, I use the very skills I developed at the SKYE Club to work towards achieving those goals.
Once again, I would like to thank you for supporting young people. As for my peers, I encourage you to believe in yourselves, use every opportunity to realise your potential and create positive change.”
