The Guidebook - Preventing of Bullying from early childhood years
20 December

We are happy to present the guidebook on "Preventing of Bullying from early childhood years". The guidebook was developed within the frames of World Vision Georgia Early Childhood Development Strategic direction and Kakheti Area Program.

The guidebook is one of the first attempts in Georgia to offer preschool institutions a vision related to bullying, as well as specific prevention and intervention strategies to support the development of a socio-emotionally competent and resilient child.

Its main goal is to establish the bullying-free environment in preschools, to provide approaches to the development of children that promote the development of social-emotional competencies and resilience in children. By giving the opportunity to the early childhood education specialists to apply the strategies described, it provides directions - how to achieve this main goal.

Those approaches applied in early childhood education provides the basis for children to be able to handle the challenges of violence and bullying in the future effectively.

The guide covers the following issues:

  • Definition of bullying and its forms;
  • Characteristics of children involved in the bullying cycle;
  • Reasons for bullying, why children engage in it;
  • What do socio-emotional competencies and resilience mean?
  • Who is a socially-emotionally competent and resilient child?
  • Which factors contribute to the development of a socially-emotionally competent and resilient child?
  • What is the role of an early education specialist in this process?
  • Strategies for working with parents and the importance of involving them in creating a bullying-free environment in the preschool.
