World Vision Georgia continues to support families living in extreme poverty by offering a variety of crucial services and resources. Within the frames of the project "ERTAD – Empowering, Resilience, Transformation, and Development”, World Vision Georgia conducted an assessment of vulnerable families revealing their immediate needs. Based on the needs assessment, families living in extreme poverty in target regions have received food packages, household items and other resources to satisfy their basic needs. As part of the assistance, diverse support will be also delivered to other families in all target regions covering Kakheti, Imereti, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Samegrelo and Adjara.
The project aims to reduce poverty in Georgia through the UPG model, which focuses on providing essential resources and support to individuals in extreme poverty. This approach also encompasses helping individuals acquire a profession to become self-sustained, financial education for managing personal finances, developing various skills, and providing social support. The program engages 780 families facing extreme poverty, supported by around 40 family empowerment consultants who work to enhance their socio-economic conditions.
The project is implemented by the consortium - World Vision Germany, World Vision Georgia, and the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), in cooperation with the Social Service Agency, with the financial support of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).
