Kety's Story - Her way to successful entrepreneurship
29 November

Keti is a caring mother of two children and already successful entrepreneur. However, this path was not so easy for her - " I went through countless days of hopelessness and despair, wondering if a mother alone with children can cope with this difficulty and It was caring and love for children that gave me the strength and motivation to continue," said Ketevan. Early motherhood, eagerness to study, harsh family conditions, raising children alone, and intense labor for children's welfare were big challenges for a young woman.

Keti is involved in the World Vision Ultra Poor Graduation / Home Visiting program. Keti and her family faced many challenges and needed support during this difficult time. First, Keti and her children received needed services and financial assistance.  In addition, the organization analysed livelihoods and economic wellbeing of her family, and relevant material support was provided.  The Covid-19 pandemic had an impact on children, it was important for Keti to involve her children in the continuous learning process as they did not have access to computers and they were provided with the space at school. This initiative was further supported by Imereti Development Center, Kutaisi Educational Resource Center, and the administration of Kutaisi Public School #14. Keti realized that she was not alone, that many people around her were trying to help. She decided to turn challenges into opportunities and get fully involved in labor, education, and development. Keti acquired the essential skills needed, first taking cutting and sewing courses, then learning to work on polymer clay for extra income, and most importantly, believing in herself.

She soon realized that it was her new profession and the first step to success.  Now Keti works on polymer clay, through which she makes Handmade items and jewellery, decorative, painted cups, hairpins, earrings, necklaces, brooches. To support Keti, The Imereti Development Center purchased her an electric kiln to burn clay as well as clay material and ancillary equipment. Keti not only sells handicrafts in the local market but also, with the help of friends, she was able to bring the goods to the European market and actively receive new orders.

Keti's complicated past did not prevent her from being an active woman; finding a favorite job, taking essential steps, and fearlessly moving towards her goal. Keti constantly looks for business growth and development opportunities. She does not stop, actively participates in various exhibitions, and implements her work. Along with professional development, Keti also manages to study. She was enrolled and is currently studying Christian art at the Gelati Theological Academy.

There are many single mothers in Georgia today who have to deal with many challenges every day. However, Keti is an example of how you can start all over, learn, find a favourite job and strive for career development. She proved that there is a way out of even the most challenging situation; the main thing is to believe in yourself.

"I am incredibly grateful to every person who has endured my difficult situation, helped me, encouraged me, and given me hope for the future. I was fortunate. I know there are many women in my situation, and I would encourage them - never give up for you and your children’s happiness. go extra mile and win your race! "
